Education and work experience
After successfully completing her HBO Law studies at the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, Valerie pursued a pre-master’s at the Open University. Subsequently, she successfully completed the master’s in Private Law with a specialization in personal and family law at Utrecht University. During her studies, Valerie followed a minor in Social Work in Vienna. Throughout her education, she has always focused on all aspects of family law and has specialized in international family law, among other areas.
Valerie combined a large part of her studies with work as a specialized legal expert. At the Center for International Child Abduction, she provided clients with advice and support in complex (international) family cases. Additionally, as coordinator of the associated Mediation Bureau, she played a major role in organizing many (cross-border) mediations in international family law and was the point of contact for parents, professionals, and courts. After working as a government legal expert on the Childcare Benefits Scandal, she transitioned to the legal profession where she now works as a lawyer dedicated to her clients.
